Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in alt-hardcore, death-metal, electro-punk and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. Fuming Mouth - "The Silence Beyond Life"
Fuming Mouth's 2019 LP, The Grand Descent, should be credited with setting the stage for the hardcore-influenced death-metal scene that's sprung up in the years since. Now, the Massachusetts band are coming back to claim the throne. "The Silence Beyond Life" is the staggering lead single from their long-awaited second album, Last Day of Sun. Mark Whelan found a way to add resounding clean vocals into his band's filthy fabric without coming off forced or lowering the heaviness level. This song is a monster.
Code Orange - "Mirror"
Some Code Orange fans might be scratching their heads at "Mirror," but we at Revolver HQ are banging them — albeit lightly, compared to the way we thrash our necks to their hardcore onslaughts. The Above's latest single is even less metallic and more melodic than the grungy "Take Shape," and in a way that Code Orange have never attempted in their ever-evolving history. The trip-hoppy beat, the moody keys, the orchestral flourishes and Reba Meyers' hazy croons are new ground for the Pittsburgh crew. We love it.

MTVoid - "MaBeLu"
When he's not busy filling out the low-end in TOOL, bassist Justin Chancellor is paling around with his friend, Sweet Noise's Piotr "Glaca" Mohamed, in their experimental ambient project MTVoid. It's been a long 10 years since the duo released their last album, Nothing's Matter, but they're following that up with Matters Knot Pt. 1 this fall, and "MaBeLu" is an alluring glimpse into the project. It sounds like the creepier side of Aphex Twin splashed with stupefying noise shrieks that give it a freaky, post-punk edge.

Wargasm - "Bang Ya Head" (Feat. Fred Durst)
Last year, Wargasm earned the seal approval from nu-metal giants Limp Bizkit with the U.K. electro-punk duo were invited to open the "Break Stuff" band's U.S. tour. While on the road, Wargasm became tight with Bizkit bandleader Fred Durst, and now he's once again blessed the band by showing up on their high-voltage new single, "Bang Ya Head." It's a lot louder, faster and zanier than the groovy nu-metal Durst usually raps over, but he finds his place among the ruckus and sounds natural alongside Milkie Way and Sam Matlock.
Harm's Way - "Undertow" (Feat. King Woman)
Harm's Way made their bones in hardcore with destructive breakdowns and industrial grooves, but on "Undertow," they expand their range into doomier, more post-metal-y territory. The Chicago band enlisted King Woman — a.k.a. doomgaze singer-songwriter Kristina Esfandiari — to add her melancholy, downcast croons on this cut. It's one of the most atmospheric and structurally unique songs in the Harm's Way catalog, and one that still finds a way to close with a chugging mosh part.
Pain of Truth - "Lifeless on the Ground"
If the singles from Pain of Truth's bangin' new album, Not Through Blood, somehow didn't capture your attention, then clear some space wherever you're standing, put on "Lifeless on the Ground," and try your damnedest not to spin-kick every item off the nearest table within the first 30 seconds. Good luck, home furnishings!
This song is a textbook example of the perfect hardcore starting track. The elastic riff. The swinging drums. The wriggling guitar solo. The "PAIN. OF. TRUTH." gang chants. And oh yeah, a killer feature from Vein.FM's Anthony Didio. This is exemplary heavy hardcore.
