Riding high on the success of his 2022 single "SPIT IN MY FACE!," which has racked up over 330 million streams to date, and his 2023 EP, Sleez, ThxSoMch has dropped a hard-hitting new song, "LOST!" The track channels the hard-hitting sound of the nu-metal he grew up on, with the Toronto artist rapping over old-school turntable scratches and squealing noise that evokes the break-stuff squall of Limp Bizkit and Korn.
"LOST!" was produced by BNYX (Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, Yeat) and arrived today accompanied by a creepy, bloody music video, directed by frequent ThxSoMch collaborator Tommy Kiljoy. Watch and listen above.
"I've kind of been around nu-metal since I was a kid," ThxSoMch tells Revolver. "My dad would mainly listen to alternative radio in the car, so my earliest memories of the genre were me obsessing over Linkin Park, who I still love today.
"I didn't plan to make a nu-metal song, though. It came together naturally the first time I met BNYX. We were cooking up at a studio in Brooklyn. The first beat he played me was 'LOST!' and I immediately stood up out my seat and started moving around. Usually that's a pretty clear indicator for me if somethings hittin the right way.
He adds: "I think this song's just the result of two musicians who like making weird and unique shit. And also a lil sleep deprivation and softcore substance abuse — nothing bad tho we skr8."
ThxSoMch will play his debut hometown show at Toronto's Bovine Sex Club on December 6th. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. ET this Friday, November 3rd here.
